Questions from the kitchen
Food first. Numbers optional. Nobody gets shamed.
The basics
What is OwnBite?
A recipe home and a friendly table. Save what you'd actually cook, cook it step by step, then post your plate and the swap you made. Food first. Numbers optional. Nobody gets shamed. See how it works
Do I need an account to read recipes?
No. Every public recipe, cook's page and challenge is open to read. An account lets you save, plan, cook along and post your version.
What is a version?
When you cook a recipe, you can add a photo, one line and the swap you made. Versions gather under the recipe, credited to you, so the next cook learns from your kitchen.
Who can join?
Anyone 18 or older can create an account. Reading public recipes needs no account at all.
Plans and billing
Is OwnBite free?
Yes. Reading recipes, posting versions, sharing and weekly challenges are free for everyone, always. The free plan also includes 3 food scans and 2 recipe ideas every day. The AI coach is part of Premium and Plus.
What do Premium and Plus add?
Higher daily limits on the AI helpers for the busy weeks. Premium includes 15 food scans, 10 recipe ideas and 30 coach messages a day; Plus includes 40, 25 and 100. Premium is $5.99 a month and Plus is $12.99 a month, and paying yearly costs less per month. The community is the same on every plan. Compare plans
What happens when I reach a daily limit?
That AI helper pauses until your allowance resets at midnight UTC; the app shows the time where you are. Everything else, like recipes, your diary and the community, keeps working.
Is there a free trial?
No. There is no trial because the free plan is free for as long as you like. Upgrade only if you want the higher daily limits.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, from your account settings in the app. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. There are no prorated refunds for the rest of that period. Your recipes and posts stay yours.
Food numbers and AI
Will OwnBite show my calories or weight?
No. Public pages never show calories, weight or nutrient targets. In the app, food numbers are off by default; you can turn them on in You › Settings › Food numbers. Your private diary and food scans keep their numbers, and they are never posted.
How accurate are the AI food scans and ideas?
They are estimates, and they are labelled that way. A photo cannot see the oil in the pan or exactly how much is on the plate, so treat the numbers as a rough guide. If you have an allergy, always check the ingredients yourself.
Is OwnBite medical or dietary advice?
No. OwnBite is a cooking and recipe community. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and it makes no health promises. For medical or dietary needs, talk to a qualified professional.
Privacy and your data
Is my food diary public?
Never. Your diary, scans and allergy list stay private. Nothing from them is ever posted, and we never sell your data.
Can I download or delete my data?
Yes. In the app, You › Settings › Your data lets you download a copy of what we store for you, or delete your account. Read the privacy policy
How does OwnBite relate to OLYRON Labs?
OwnBite is its own app in the OLYRON family. Lab results live in OLYRON Labs, a separate service. OwnBite never shows lab results, and nothing from other OLYRON apps appears on your posts.
Safety
How do I report a recipe, post or cook?
Report and block are one tap away on every recipe, post and cook. Reports about disordered eating are reviewed first. You can also write to safety@ownbite.com. Read the community guidelines
